In October we launched The Duke of Edinburgh's Award 2025/26 Programme for Year 9 Students and above at Mercia Academy.

How do I apply to join the Duke of Edinburgh Award Programme?

Our information evening has already taken place, but students can still apply to join the Duke of Edinburgh Award Programme, please see Mrs Copley or Mr Holmes (PE).

The costs for each level of the award are listed below and will be payable on Beehive in three instalments.

 These prices include; 

• DofE Award Registration 
• Expedition Training/Support/Assessment from specialist Outdoor Instructors 
• Tents, cooking stove and gas equipment 
• Campsite Fees 
• Transport and Accommodation. 

These costs do not cover Expedition Food and personal Expedition Clothing and items E.g. Walking Boots, coats, crockery, sleeping bags, roll mats etc.

We do have limited items of camping equipment including DofE approved sleeping bags with liners, roll mats, waterproof over trousers and rucksacks which are available to rent from the school free of charge. These can be reserved on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. We reserve the right to charge you for any lost or items damaged whilst on expedition. Information on reserving these items of kit will be available at the launch event.

Dates have already been booked and are non-negotiable. If you are unable to attend any of these, you will be unable to take part in DofE this academic year.

Bronze	Training:  Thursday 30th – Friday 1st May Qualifier: Thursday 11th – Friday 12th June
Silver	Training: Wednesday 10th – Friday 12th June Qualifier: Wednesday 24th – Friday 26th July

Students in receipt of Pupil Premium may receive some financial support towards the cost of participating in DofE.
