Students Explore Diverse Career Paths and Innovative Learning Experiences on School Trips

This term, a number of our students have embarked on enriching extracurricular activities, expanding their knowledge through a variety of brilliant school trips.

Burton and South Derbyshire College

First up was a visit to Burton and South Derbyshire College (BSDC), where our Key Stage 3 students delved deeper into a wide variety of courses and careers.

One of the highlights of the trip was the Health and Social Care suite, where students got hands-on with a selection of interactive manikins programmed to behave like real humans.

The cohort also enjoyed visiting the Travel and Tourism area, where they learned about a range of exotic locations, with some even planning their next holidays!

LEGO Education Innovation Studio

Before half-term, several Mercia students visited the LEGO Education Innovation Studio, a fantastic facility that provides a hands-on learning experience to encourage and inspire the scientists and engineers of tomorrow.

As part of the day’s activities, students were tasked with designing, building, and programming their own fairground rides.

Rising to the task admirably, all their concepts were innovative, imaginative and contained multiple complex features, highlighting the enthusiasm and vast skillset of our students.

These brilliant experiences have broadened our students' interests and ignited a passion for various career paths. By engaging in hands-on activities and exploring diverse fields, our students are better equipped to make informed decisions about their futures, all while having fun and expanding their knowledge.
